Do you think someone in your family has a problem with alcohol and/or other drugs? Answering the following questions honestly can help to determine how much it is directly affecting your life.
- Does someone in your family undergo personality changes when using alcohol/drugs?
- Do you find yourself bewildered by what’s happening in your life?
- Do you feel that alcohol/drugs are more important to this person than you are?
- Do you feel sorry for yourself and frequently indulge in self pity?
- Has drinking/drug use ruined special occasions?
- Do you find yourself covering up for the consequences of someone’s drinking/drug use?
- Do you often feel guilty or apologetic?
- Is drinking/drug use involved in most of your family activities?
- Do you feel that you are different from other people?
- Have you ever tried to “fight” the drinker/drug user by joining the drinking/drug use?

- Have you ever tried to control the drinker/drug user’s behavior by hiding the car keys, disposing of alcohol/drugs, etc?

- Have you ever been embarrassed or felt the need to apologize for the drinker/drug user’s actions?
